How Not To Pose for a Picture

artsfundsalon2010_mj97083I recently had occasion to attend the Santa Barbara Art Fund’s Salon Series for ceramic artist Joan Rosenberg-Dent. It is always a treat to see a productive and fully functional studio. (Joan has intentionally withheld her work from sale for a while in the hope of developing more institutional relationships, which helps to explain the depth of inventory seen in the background.) Joan is the beautiful woman to my right and Doug Uyesaka is to her right.

The photo was reproduced in this week’s edition of the Montecito Journal. The photographer is the immensely talented Joanne Calitri. (She is a celebrated photographer of far more comely and famous people than me.)

I did learn something from this publication:
1. Profile shots flatter some people. I am not one of them.
2. When wearing one of your favorite D&G jackets to an art affair, make sure it looks really polished.

All carping about vanity issues aside, I was thrilled to attend, thrilled to be noticed, and thrilled to be featured in the local Journal.
